Learning doesn’t stop when students leave their homeroom! At DES, every child has the chance to explore, create, and grow through our special area classes:

• Art – A place to imagine, design, and create. Students experiment with different materials, learn about famous artists, and express themselves through projects big and small.

• Guidance – In Guidance class, students practice important life skills like friendship, problem-solving, and making good choices. It’s a safe space to learn how to grow as kind, confident Lions.

• Music – From singing and rhythm games to instruments and performances, Music class helps students discover the joy of sound and teamwork.

These classes add color, creativity, and confidence to every student’s school week — helping them shine inside and outside the classroom.

At DES, we believe character matters just as much as academics. Each month, teachers and staff select students who go above and beyond to show kindness, responsibility, and respect. These students are role models in their classrooms and a positive example for their peers.
